NAVYLAX Fax (Question of the Day 4/20/05)

Yesterday, we discussed the MacLaughlin Award - awarded to the top Midfielder in Division I each year. The award is named after Navy All American midfielder, Donald MacLaughlin Jr '63. Navy has only had one MacLaughlin Award winner since the award's inception (1973). Which Navy midfielder won the MacLaughlin Award?

Extra credit: Which former Navy player won the MacLaughlin Award (twice) after he left the Naval Academy? Extra extra credit: At which position did that player compete at Navy?

Yesterday's answer was E. All of the above.
LTJG Donald C. MacLaughlin, Jr. was a pilot assigned to Attack Squadron 76 onboard the USS ENTERPRISE. On January 2, 1966, MacLaughlin was flying as a wingman in an A4C Skyhawk on a combat mission in South Viet Nam. In zero visibility due to fog, Donald MacLaughlin did not return from that mission and perished. His memory is honored on the Viet Nam Memorial Panel 04E - - Line 51.
