NAVYLAX Fax (Question of the Day 4/21/05)

The Ensign C. Markland Kelly Jr. award is given to the top Goaltenders in Divisions I, II & III each year.
Kelly was a VF-8 fighter pilot, his plane was officially "lost" at the Battle of Midway.
Navy has a long history of top goaltenders, including two-time Kelly Award winner, Denny Wedekind '65, Lenny Supko '70 (both answered yesterday's question correctly) and our current goalie Matt Russell '06, who won the award last year.
Since the award's inception in 1949, Navy has had 7 Kelly Award winners (for a total of 9 awards).

Can you name two of the other four? Hint: Navy goalies won 2 of the first 6 awards.
Extra credit: Who was the other two-time winner?
Extra extra credit: What number did Navy's first Kelly Award winner wear?
Post your Lax Fax Answer.

The correct answer and those members who answered correctly will be posted tomorrow.

Yesterday's answer was Glen Miles '86 - who hails from Dulaney HS in Timonium, MD. Glen went on to be a Marine F-18 pilot and is currently stationed at the Pentagon, and living in Davidsonville, MD with his wife Ruth, and their children Marc, Nicky & Jordan. Glen is giving back to the game by coaching Marc's Junior A team in Davidsonville, and through his active participation in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Lacrosse.
Glen Miles '86 was a 2nd Team AA midfielder in his sophomore season at Navy - second on the team in scoring with 17 G and 13 A.
In Glen's junior season, Coach Matthews needed an attackman, as three seniors graduated from the starting attack in 1984 (Ken McGann '84, Bill Dempsey '84, and Team Captain - Tom Calabrese '84) - so Glen played attack and earned 2nd Team AA status at Attack scoring 19 G and 27 A.
In his senior campaign, Glen Miles '86 won the MacLaughlin Award - and was named a 1st Team AA midfielder.
Glen scored 53 points (23 G, 30A) in his senior season, good for 15th on the all-time single season list.
Glen also scored 140 points in his career on 65 G and 75A, tied for 8th with JHL Chambers '49 on the all-time career scoring list.

For extra credit: A few people recognized that Brendan Schneck played Attack for Navy as a plebe and sophomore in '77 and '78. Brendan was a prolific scorer at Navy, and still holds the single-season goals record with 51 in his sophomore season.
Brendan transferred to Hopkins and won the MacLaughlin Award at midfield in '79 and again in '81.
