Navy Lacrosse Camp - A great time for a NAVYLAX reunion !! DJ Jahn '57, Tommy Hagan '69, Rick Ector '71, Ray Finnegan '75 and many more have stories to tell. Coach Meade, Col John Rupp '83, 1Lt Matt Russell '06 each had chances to talk about life beyond lacrosse to these Navy Lacrosse campers. Old friends, new stories - New friends, old stories. Camp is rich - camp is wonderful - camp is exhausting - camp is great. Part reunion, part family gathering, part recruiting, part affirmation. Navy Lacrosse is special - and camp is an important part of the fellowship. When people see it from the outside, they know that something a lot more complex than a lacrosse camp is going on here. This is family tradition - this is carrying on the legacy. Joey Avveduti and Kevin Benzing - back for the summer from their own college lacrosse experience teaching camp at Navy, carrying on the family legacy for Joe '74 and Donny '80. NAPS coach Brian Stewart bringing his new NAPS team in for a period of USNA before leaving for Newport. Sam Jones - a leader in that NAPS class - carrying on the tradition of father David '82 and grandfather Jack '55. Will Brian Stewart ever forget Navy Lacrosse camp? Heck no, Camp was his first introduction to the Navy Lacrosse family !! Each year is a little different, but still the same. It's always the Navy Lacrosse family and no matter if you have been here every year for the last 10, or whether it's your first one ==> Everybody is equal - you belong. =:-) Coach Meade always comes up with new ways to get people involved. br> Next year, come to the family reunion that we call camp. You'll be glad that you did. br> PS. If you can watch YouTube - check out the youngest camper boys. Search for "Navy Lacrosse Camp Submarines" br> That is a group of 10 year old boys that we coached last week playing at half-time of the Bayhawks MLL game in Navy Marine Corps Stadium. They understood that they just had the opportunity to play in the best lacrosse venue on the planet. br> Go Navy !! br> Buddy Garland '84 br> |
