Navy Lacrosse Captain's House - Named Home of the Week !! If any of you were around when the Coach Szlasa era began, then you might know the name of a local talent named John Pilli '73. John was a little larger than life (starring in both football and lacrosse) and he brought to the Naval Academy a "View of John Pilli." John was always quick with a joke - and very dedicated on the field. He has always had a million friends. In his post-military career, John has become somewhat of a local celebrity performing period home restorations within downtown Annapolis. If someone is truly going to restore and improve their home within the downtown limits, they call John Pilli Construction and Gate One Builders. They are the best - bar none - and everyone knows it. When John and his wife, Sherry Sansing, decided to "build" a home for themselves, it was patently obvious that they needed a period restoration - so they bought a house with a "View of the Naval Academy." You can check out this online article to see the gorgeous house they built/restored from a beautiful Italianate from 1878 just outside the Academy Wall. You can see the Chapel Dome from their yard - stunning. John Pilli and Sherry Sansing's home Congratulations on a beautiful home and your enduring love of the Naval Academy. We should all stop by and wish them well - okay, not all at once. =:-) Go Navy !! Buddy Garland '84 |
